Enjoy the beauty of desert plant life with these cacti wallpapers!

Survival in the hot, dry desert is no easy feat – but cacti are amazing plants that have adapted to the grueling desert climate with surprising efficiency! The southwestern United States, from Texas through New Mexico and Arizona, all the way to California, is home to a wide range of cacti species. These succulents come in many shapes and sizes, but what they all have in common is their unique adaptation: their spines. These spines, or needles, are actually similar to leaves on other plants, except they do not lose water to evaporation – which is essential in the dry desert! Cactus spines also create a sharp, painful defense against animals who might try to eat the juicy cactus for nourishment and precious water.

You may not think of cactus as colorful plants, but with these wallpapers you'll find that cacti are full of beautiful shades of green but also red and deep purple, on their flowers or the flesh surrounding their spines. High definition close-ups of smooth succulent skin and sharp protruding needles highlight the stunning intricacy and beauty of each cactus. This app features many cactus varieties including prickly pear, barrel, and of course, the quintessential icon of the southwest landscape, the majestic saguaro
